In contemporary journalism, it seems today that the media that possessed the greatest speed, intensity, and social impact is no longer confined to printed matter or broadcasting, nor online-news. Whether it be good or bad, SNS has now taken the forefront as the leading force in our "moving society." With the collapse of the easily recognizable authority of mainstream media, various individuals with diverse intentions have entered the scene where the boundaries between truth and fiction are blurred.
What constitutes an effective and accurate media communication in such times? Don't deny outdated authority easily, but learn from it. The "Buzz" is not our enemy, but an ally. Students will first study the overall history of media since the birth of the internet, before analyzing “social justice” and users' behavioral theories in the social media era where text detaches from its context and spreads instantly.
For those who wish to cultivate a genuine journalistic attitude in the post-truth era and thrive on the web, our course will conclude with a focus on honing writing skills tailored to surviving in this new age of writing, under symbiotic relations with AI.
25 years ago, occupations such as online writers and columnists didn't even exist, nor thought to. Your lecturer with experience in said occupations will teach you empirical (practical) online writing knowledge and techniques that she accumulated though 20 years of her career, from the dawn of online media till the present day. From Lifestyle online medias to fashion magazines, literature magazines, political economic magazines, and even government publications – your lecturer who had written about these various topics now tries to verbalize the aesthetics of online-writing.
The complicated truth of mass media, the thoughts of editors who struggled between favoring page views or intangible values, and online praises and slander. We will cover these sub-topics to learn the insights and reality of what it means to be a net writer. The lecturer will also introduce behind-the-scenes stories of material collection and draft writing, as well as show proofreading and editing by various publishers. "Gen Z" students born after the birth of the internet will think about their strengths within the internet and discuss their essays' quality and review if it is suitable to put on the market.
