・To develop an accurate and critical understanding of theories and concepts in media sociology and media representation through close reading of academic texts
・To cultivate the ability to formulate one’s own questions based on the assumptions and arguments of the readings and to examine them from a sociological perspective
・To acquire the ability to articulate one’s ideas to others and to deepen discussions by incorporating diverse perspectives through group work and discussions
This course begins with close readings of core texts in media sociology, followed by an examination of “media and representation,” focusing on gender, the body, and self-representation, and exploring how media shape social norms and identities.
This course emphasizes accurate understanding of the assigned readings, critical examination of their assumptions and arguments, and the formulation of students’ own questions. In addition, through group work and discussions with other participants, students will deepen their understanding by applying the theories and concepts they have studied to concrete examples.

本授業では、前半にメディア社会学科の共通教材を用いた文献講読を行う。後半では「メディアと表象」をテーマに、ジェンダー表象、身体表象、自己表象などに関する文献を精読し、メディアが社会的規範やアイデンティティの形成にどのように関与しているのかを検討する。
本授業では、文献内容を正確に理解した上で、その前提や内容を批判的に読解し、自らの問いを立てることを重視する。さらに、グループワークやディスカッションを通じて他の受講者とともに、読解した理論や概念を具体的な事例に応用しながら、理解を深めていく。
