By the end of the course, students should be able to:
1. Understand the basic structure and conventions of academic writing in English.
2. Develop effective thesis statements and coherent paragraphs.
3. Improve their ability to summarize and paraphrase source material.
4. Learn to use evidence and referencing appropriately.
5. Practice oral presentation skills in academic contexts.
6. Increase their awareness of global issues and perspectives in academic communication.
7. Reflect on their growth as academic writers and presenters.
This course introduces students to the foundations of academic English writing and presentation skills in the context of global society. Emphasis is placed on developing clear and structured academic communication, critical thinking, and cross-cultural awareness through written and spoken English.
Students will engage with academic texts, practice summarizing and paraphrasing, and learn how to build coherent arguments supported by evidence. Throughout the course, students will also reflect on their learning process and explore global issues from diverse cultural and social perspectives.

| Classes combine short lectures, guided practice, discussion, peer work, and reflective activities. Emphasis is placed on active reading, incremental skill development, and transparency of expectations. Students are encouraged to approach academic English as a practice that develops over time through feedback, revision, and sustained engagement with texts. |
Students should complete the required reading assignments and practical exercises prior to each class.
