【Course Objectives】

This course deals with social psychology as an aspect of culture. How are the norms and values shared by people in relation to various social phenomena and issues, as well as their attitudes and awareness toward their relationships with others and their own condition, related to the ongoing division of society in the world? In this class, we will explore this question using the theory and methods of quantitative social psychology research.

【Course Contents】

First, quantitative theories and methods of social psychology will be explained.

Next, I will introduce the theories and empirical findings of previous studies on various public opinion and social attitudes related to various phenomena of social division. And we will discuss them.

Finally, students will conduct a brief analysis of data from recent public opinion polls and academic surveys (SSP survey, JGSS survey, World Values Survey, International Social Survey Program, etc.) related to social division, according to their own interests.

Based on the results, we will discuss where the problems concerning social psychology lie and what institutional and policy improvements are needed.
