The objective of this course is to provide students with a broad understanding of the fundamental concepts of social gerontology, to help them understand later life from physical, psychological, and social perspectives, and to equip them with basic research methods used in social gerontology.
This course aims to provide students with an understanding of the basic framework of social gerontology. Through this course, students will learn the following:
1 To organize the relationship between gerontology and sociology and to explain social gerontology as an academic field.
2 To develop a perspective for understanding later life from physical, psychological, and social dimensions.
3 To examine contemporary social issues surrounding older adults using fundamental concepts and knowledge of social gerontology.
4 To understand the basic research methods used in social gerontology.

社会老年学の基礎知識を幅広く学び、高齢期を身体・心理・社会の側面から理解するとともに、社会老年学における基本的な研究方法を身につけることを目標とする。
The objective of this course is to provide students with a broad understanding of the fundamental concepts of social gerontology, to help them understand later life from physical, psychological, and social perspectives, and to equip them with basic research methods used in social gerontology.
本授業では、社会老年学の基礎的枠組みを理解することを目的とし、以下の内容を学びます。
①老年学と社会学の関係を整理し、社会老年学がどのような学問領域であるかを説明できるようになる。
②高齢期を身体・心理・社会の側面から捉える視点を身につける。
③高齢者を取り巻く現代社会の課題について、社会老年学の基礎知識を用いて考察できるようになる。
④社会老年学研究で用いられる基本的な研究方法を理解する。
