By reexamining “language” and ‘writing’ from a technological perspective, we gain an understanding of “reading,” “writing,” and “thinking” within their historical and social contexts.
The emergence of AI-powered text generation technology and its rapid (technological) development and proliferation are undeniably transforming the processes and meanings of our “writing,” “reading,” and “thinking.” Yet, it is also true that we, standing squarely in the midst of this change, do not yet fully grasp its ‘meaning’ or “significance.”
In this course, drawing on insights from sociology, social history, and critical theory surrounding “characters,” “words,” and the acts of “writing” and “reading,” we will re-examine the nature of ‘reading’ and “writing.” Through this re-examination, we will understand and consider what these activities currently entail.

授業の前日12時にレジュメをCanvas LMSにアップロードするので、事前に印刷する／パソコンを持参するなどして、授業に参加してください。
「言葉」や「文字」について、「技術」という観点からとらえなおすことで、「読むこと」「書くこと」「考えること」について、歴史的・社会的なコンテクスト（背景）のもとで理解する。

人工知能（AI:Artificial Intelligence）による文章生成技術の登場と、急速な（技術上の）発展と普及は、私たちの「書くこと」「読むこと」「考えること」のプロセスや意味を、確実に変えつつあります。しかし、その変化の真っただ中にいる私たちは、その「意味」や「意義」を、正確に理解できていないことも事実です。
この授業では、「文字」や「言葉」、そして「書くこと」「読むこと」をめぐる社会学や社会史、批評理論といったさまざまな考え方の知見をもとに、「読むこと」と「書くこと」についてとらえなおすことを通じて、現在「読むこと」と「書くこと」がどのような営みなのかどうかを理解・考察します。
