This course is designed to provide students with active learning tools to:
1) Critically evaluate and discuss the role of global actors in shaping international political outcomes.
2) Analyze current global issues and develop solutions as informed global citizens.
This course is designed to help students understand the international system, the various global actors, and the issues that influence the priorities and behaviors of states and other entities within that system. Additionally, the course will explore Japan's future role and diplomacy in an increasingly globalized world. Japan's relationships with the United States and other countries will also be analyzed to provide insight into Japan's foreign policy-making and objectives.

価値観が多様化する国際社会において、国家や国際機関、多国籍企業、そしてグローバル市民社会の役割を意識し、今日の地球規模の諸問題について考察し分析することを目標とします。地球社会で活躍するために必要な「社会学的想像力」を、日本の国際関係を客観的に検証することで養いましょう。

国際関係論の基礎概念と現代国際政治の変動や転換を学び、日本国内の社会問題解決にも、グローバルな視野が不可欠であることを理解します。海外に一歩出れば、一個人は草の根レベルの外交官でもあることにも気づき、地球社会の諸問題について自ら考え行動するための基礎力の習得も目指します。身近な出来事にも「グローバル」な視野でクリティカル・シンキングを働かせ、問題意識を持つことの重要性についても確認します。
