An introductory class to acquire the basics of comprehensive French language skills. The aim is for those who come into contact with French for the first time to understand its characteristics and to be able to use the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking at a basic level.
The class meets once per week. As a rule, the instructor is a native speaker. The instructor will lead a small number of students in basic exercises for pronunciation and other elements. In addition, in the University-wide Liberal Arts courses "French A" and "French 1", students learn elementary grammar and expressions. The three courses are intentionally coordinated to provide students with the opportunity to take the grammar points they have learned in French A and develop them into practical skills through speaking, listening, writing and a variety of other exercises.

本科目を自動登録で履修する学生は、原則として、言語Bの必修科目（週2回）と合わせて、週に3回フランス語の授業を履修します。科目コード登録で履修する学生は、この点をふまえた上で登録すること。
フランス語の総合的な運用能力の基礎を身につける入門クラス。フランス語に初めて接する人が，その特徴を理解し，「読む・書く・聞く・話す」の４技能を基礎的なレベルで運用できることを目指す。

週１回の授業。原則として，ネイティヴ教員が担当する。発音から始まる初歩的な訓練を少人数の学生に向けて行う。また，全学共通科目「フランス語A」および「フランス語１」では，初級文法と表現を中心に学ぶが，三者は有機的に結びつけられており，文法の時間に理解した内容を，ここでは口頭表現，聴解，作文などのさまざまな訓練をとおして実践的な能力として定着させる仕組みになっている。
