・Visit the sites of massacres occured after the Great Kanto Earthquake and listen to stories from citizens who have documented these events to ensure the facts of the massacres are not erased. Through this, understand the importance of grassroots efforts in peacebuilding.
・Acuire a field study learning style of repeatedly conducting literature reviews and on-site visits.
On September 1, 1923, a massive earthquake with a magnitude of 7.9 struck the northwestern part of Sagami Bay. This was the Great Kanto Earthquake. It is estimated that approximately 6,000 Koreans and several hundred Chinese people were massacred during the disaster. However, no official apology has been issued by the Japanese government, and more than 100 years have passed. In this course, students will visit the sites where the massacres took place and listen to the stories of citizens who have mourned the victims and vowed that such incidents must never happen again.
This course refers to those who stand with people placed in disadvantaged positions as a result of armed conflicts or violence, and who work to overcome divisions, as "grassroots peacebuilders." By visiting the sites of their activities, students will deepen their understanding of the challenging circumstances faced by the people involved or those who take on their cause. At the same time, they will learn how these efforts generate empathy and contribute to building the foundations of peace at the grassroots level.

・関東大震災における虐殺の現場を訪れ、虐殺の事実をなかったことにしてはならないと記録をしてきた市民から話を聞くことにより、草の根で平和を創造することの重要性を理解する。
・文献調査と現場訪問を繰り返しながら学ぶフィールドスタディのスタイルを身に着ける。

1923年9月1日、相模湾西北部を震源とするマグニチュード7.9の巨大地震が発生した。関東大震災である。関東大震災では、推定6000人もの朝鮮人および数百人の中国人が虐殺されたといわれているが、日本政府の公式な謝罪はなく、100年以上が過ぎている。本科目では、虐殺が起こった現場を訪問し、二度とこのような事件を起こしてはならないと犠牲者を追悼してきた市民から話を聞く。
本科目は、武力紛争や暴力を受けた結果、不利な立場に置かれた人びとの側に寄り添い、分断を乗り越える活動を行う人びとを「草の根で平和を創る人びと」と称する。彼／彼女らの活動現場を訪れることを通じて、当事者や当事者性を引き受けている人びとが抱えている困難な状況への理解を深める一方、活動が共感を呼び、草の根で平和の礎が築かれている様子を学ぶ。
