・This course aims to develop an understanding of multicultural coexistence in Japan, to explore dialogical approaches for “living together” in society, and to examine the diversity of local communities and the ways in which coexistence can be achieved from a sociological perspective.
・Through the integration of theoretical learning in the classroom and field study conducted on site, students will acquire fundamental skills in social research—including interviewing, participant observation, documentation, and analysis—and engage in practical research rooted in local communities.
Shibazono Danchi, located in Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, is one of Japan’s leading sites of multicultural coexistence, where foreign residents account for approximately half of the population. The area represents a microcosm of a local community in which diverse languages, cultures, and lifestyles coexist. In this course, with Shibazono Danchi as the primary field site, students will examine the “reality of a multicultural society” from multiple perspectives by combining classroom-based theoretical learning with field research, engaging in practices of dialogue and participation in the field of multicultural coexistence.
In the preparatory study sessions, students will learn the basic methodologies of domestic field studies and develop an understanding of the historical development, demographic composition, and community issues of Shibazono Danchi. During the on-site fieldwork, students will visit Shibazono Danchi and its surrounding areas to conduct research. In the final session, students will present the results of their individual research and engage in a comprehensive discussion on the “possibilities and challenges of dialogue and coexistence” that have emerged from the field.

天候や地域行事、教員の都合により、授業計画を変更する場合がある。団地内の日本語教室を訪問する回のみ、日曜日の午後に実施する。
・本授業は、日本国内における多文化共生の現場を理解し、社会の中で「共に生きる」ための対話的アプローチを探究し、地域社会の多様性と共生のあり方を社会学的に考察することを目的とする。
・教室での理論的学習と現地でのフィールド・スタディを組み合わせることにより、社会調査の基礎的スキル（聞き取り、参与観察、記録、分析）を身につけ、地域に根ざした実践的研究を行う。

埼玉県川口市に位置する芝園団地は、外国人住民が約半数を占める日本有数の多文化共生の現場であり、言語や文化、生活習慣の多様性が共存する地域社会の縮図である。本授業では、芝園団地を主なフィールドとして、多文化共生の現場における対話と参与の実践を通じ、教室での理論学習とフィールドでの調査を組み合わせ、「共生社会のリアリティ」を多角的に考察する。
事前学習では、国内フィールドスタディの基本的な方法論を学び、芝園団地の形成史・人口構成・地域課題などを理解する。現地実習では、芝園団地およびその周辺を訪れ、調査を行う。最終回では、各自の調査結果を発表し、フィールドから見えてきた「対話と共生の可能性と課題」について総括的に議論する。
