基礎科目(DLP/ICGL/TBP) |
This course examines diverse social phenomena related to media communication through theoretical, historical, and empirical lenses. It aims to deepen students' understanding and foster critical thinkings about the dynamic interplay between media and society. A central theme of the course is the relationship between media and place. Key questions include: Does media contribute to placelessness or reinforce a sense of place? If so, how? Through these inquiries, students will explore the complex ways media shapes our experiences of location and community.
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of media and communication studies. Throughout the semester, we will explore a range of theories and perspectives to critically examine media and communication, addressing key issues related to technology, community, and the role of media in everyday life. Alongside theoretical and historical foundations, the course encourages students to connect media concepts to the context of Ikebukuro, fostering a localized understanding of media's impact.
Students will be guided to develop their critical thinking skills by relating media communication phenomena to their own experiences. The course structure includes eleven lecture sessions, two student presentation sessions, and one in-class midterm test.
