Notes

【Course Objectives】

To research Japan's relation with Asia, particularly the Korean Peninsula but it will touch on China in the beginning of the class and southeast Asian countries toward the end.
To learn how to research questions involving these relations.
To debate these questions with fellow classmates.
To challenge the accepted historical versions of various problems.

【Course Contents】

The class will combine lecture and discussion with the former occupying the majority of our time together.
Students will write 3 reports giving their personal views on issues discussed in class. These will be presented in class and be used for class discussion.
Students will then be given the chance to upgrade their papers.

At Rikkyo University, students are required to spend 45 hours of study (including class time) per credit. Please prepare for classes and review the materials accordingly.
Assigned readings must be read before coming to class. The lectures will not review the readings but will incorporate their contents.
