備考/ NotesNotes |
1) To critically examine the concept and practice of multiculturalism in Japan, focusing on historical and contemporary contexts.
2) To explore the intersections of race, ethnicity, gender, class, and nationality in shaping identity and societal structures.
3) To investigate the lived experiences of diverse minority groups, emphasizing intra-group diversity and the multiplicity of social identities.
4) To analyze policies, human rights debates, and identity politics to understand their impact on integration and equity in Japanese society.
5) To foster skills in engaging with complex societal issues, emphasizing empathy and informed advocacy.
The course will consist of lectures and guided discussions, as well as various forms of multimedia. Preparation before class and active participation in class discussions are required. The class will be very interactive, including group project, discussions and presentation.
