【Course Objectives】

At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to do the following:
1. Understand and be able to explain the role motivation plays in the language learning classroom.
2. Classify the roles of the student and the roles of the teacher regarding motivation to learn a language.
3. Analyze the components of a language lesson in order to enhance student motivation in the classroom.

【Course Contents】

This course will cover the concept of motivation and how it can be defined in a language learning setting. We will then examine how a teacher can enhance student motivation and how a learner can maintain motivation. Measuring motivation as well as the role of classroom materials will complete the topics addressed in this course.
