- Deepen your understanding of key concepts and topics on intercultural communication in the language classroom,
- Reflect on your own experiences in the language classroom examining the process of language and culture learning, and
- Critically examine how intercultural communication is promoted or hindered in the language classroom.
This course provides some literature on the subject of intercultural communication in the language class in particular to foster critical reading and to encourage participation in class discussions. Students will furthermore reflect on their own past learning experiences which will be shared in small groups. Based on the insights gained through such sharing, students will design and present a classroom activity or develop material for intercultural learning at the end of the course. Active participation will be expected throughout the course.
