【Course Objectives】

By the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. Understand anthropological debates about cultural diversity and conflicts in modern society.
2. Apply relevant anthropological perspectives and approaches to analyze contemporary societal issues.
3. Use critical thinking to assess cultural differences and conflicts in an increasingly globalized world.
4. Enhance their reading and writing skills, which are essential for academic tasks in English.

【Course Contents】

This course introduces the fundamentals of cultural anthropology, focusing on human societies and cultures. Students will examine key concepts and issues, exploring relationships among individuals, social groups, culture, and history. They will also learn to apply relevant theoretical frameworks to analyze contemporary societies critically. The course aims to prepare students for future interactions with cultural diversity and conflicts in an increasingly globalized world.
Students are encouraged to select topics discussed in class that interest them and develop them into a final research report in English for further ethnographic research.
The course format includes lectures, discussions, and student presentations, with a strong emphasis on active participation in scholarly discourse.
