This course aims to provide students with a general understanding of family law from a comparative and international perspective.
The course will cover a wide range of topics concerning domestic and cross-border family disputes, such as marriage, parent and child relationship, parental responsibility, surrogacy and other forms of assisted reproduction. The course will also cover legal issues concerning sexual and gender minority families. The case studies will explore a variety of examples from the European Court of Human Rights, the Supreme Court of Japan, and the UK High Court of Justice, among others.
