Notes For PEACE and DLP students

【Course Objectives】

This course introduces the major content areas of cultural psychology. Students will learn and realize how culture shapes the way we think and behave, and also understand how our mind constructs our culture at the same time.

【Course Contents】

This course will cover the relationship between culture and human mind. The course starts by introducing general theories and perspectives underlying cultural psychology. We will then explore cultural influences on a wide range of psychological processes, including socialization, self-concept, motivation, emotion, and cognition, especially focusing on East-West differences. We will also deal with the mechanisms underlying such cultural differences, and cover topics such as acculturation and bi/multi-culturalism.
