【Course Objectives】

To be able to understand the security system of the international society.
To be able to examine the dilemmas of the assistance and intervention by the international society in areas of armed conflict
To be able to understand the various actors involved in humanitarian, reconstruction and development, and peacebuilding assistance in the international community

【Course Contents】

This course examines the issue of what kind of humanitarian, reconstruction/development, and peacebuilding assistance the international community can provide to areas of armed conflict.
In Part I, the course introduces changes in international security before the First World War. The Part II features the dilemmas of UN PKO, whose role has changed since the end of the Cold War, Part III takes the examples of the dilemmas faced by the international community in providing assistance and intervention in various conflict affected area under the post-Cold War security concept. In Part IV, ther discussion will be held based on the latest international developments and how they are creating dilemmas for the international community in terms of assistance and intervention.
