This course explores how we understand the world and how society and culture are constituted through language and communication, engaging with key research and topics in linguistic anthropology as well as concrete examples from different social and cultural contexts.
In this course, students explore communication as a practice of everyday life, drawing on a range of topics and concrete research examples, from everyday language use to magic and ritualized speech. The course develops an understanding of the close connections between language, society, and culture, and introduces the fundamental perspectives of linguistic anthropology.

「ことば」や「コミュニケーション」を通して、私たちがどのように世界を理解し、そして社会や文化を形づくってきたのかについて、言語人類学におけるさまざまな研究・トピックや、異なる社会や文化の具体的な事例を参照しながら学びます。
