Understanding the features of your own country’s culture is essential for developing a global mindset/perspective. In this lecture we will learn features of Japanese culture and gain a cultural grounding in this subject by looking at traditional entertainment. Based on this learning we will be able to draw comparisons with other cultures and develop a broader and more flexible perspective.
The areas covered in the class will be mainly classical entertainment, and Kabuki will be the main focus. Learn the character and spirit of Japanese culture by examining its history and characteristics. Furthermore, I would like to cultivate a broader and deeper perspective on culture by contrasting with different cultures from time to time. In each class, we will use images and see the contents of the lecture in a more three-dimensional manner by looking at the actual entertainment.

自国の文化の特性を理解することは、グローバルな思考・視野を体得するためには、不可欠であると考える。本講義は古典芸能を通して日本文化の特性と文化的素地を学ぶ。それによって異文化と対比することができ、広く柔軟な視点を身につけるようにしていきたい。

授業で取り上げる領域は主として古典芸能とし、その中でも歌舞伎を中心に進めていく。その歴史と特性を検証することによって、日本文化の性格や精神を学ぶ。さらに折々に異文化と対比することによって、文化に対するより広く深い視野を養っていきたい。授業では毎回映像を用い、実際の芸能に見ることによって講義内容をより立体的に捉えて考察していく。
