【Course Objectives】

The goal for this course is for students to learn basic knowledge in scholarly fields related to globalization and language issues, and master the core skills for applying this knowledge to analysis of specific events.

【Course Contents】

What is globalization? What (or who) is leading it? What is the ideology driving globalization? How is it manifested in national or regional language policies? And how are languages affected (or forced to change) by it? By raising such questions and taking up specific cases, this project will examine the depth/truth of issues related to globalization and language in a diachronic, synchronic, and introspective manner, and will put these considerations into academic practice.
