The characteristic of understanding others through anthropological fieldwork is "knowing from the inside." Knowing from the inside means grasping others through interactions with them and coming to understand through the fluctuations in the fieldworker's feelings, such as discomfort, surprise, anger, or joy, experienced during fieldwork. The goal of this course is to learn the methods of anthropological fieldwork in order to understand diverse ways of life and values from the inside and to develop the ability to imagine possibilities for other ways of living.
In the first half, the course will introduce the basics and methodology of anthropological fieldwork. In the second half, students will conduct fieldwork based on assignments set according to the number of students, to the extent possible, and compile the results into a research report (final report). Through this process, students will learn how to reflect on fieldwork results. Additionally, the course will explore what "knowing from the inside" is.

文化人類学的なフィールドワークを通じた他者理解の特徴は「内側からわかる」ことである。内側からわかるということは、他者との関わりのなかでわかるということであるとともに、フィールドワークにおいて経験する違和感や驚き、怒りや喜びといったフィールドワーカー自身の感覚の揺らぎを通じてわかるということである。本授業の目標は、文化人類学的なフィールドワークの方法を学ぶことで、多様な生き方や価値観を内側から理解し、別の生き方の可能性を想像する力を身につけることである。

授業の前半では、文化人類学的なフィールドワークの基礎や方法論について講義を行う。後半では、受講者数に応じて設定された課題に基づき、可能な範囲でフィールドワークを実施し、その結果を研究成果（期末レポート）としてまとめる。この取り組みを通して、フィールドワークで得られた事例をもとに考えるという基本的なプロセスを学ぶ。また、「内側からわかる」とは何かについても探究する。
