Globalization as a term leads us to a brain freeze. We, the human beings have always been trotamundos. Let us assume a critical attitude toward the term to observe human displacements in the Modern Era from a broader angle.
No border, no migrants. The Nation-State does invent and create divisions between nationals and foreigners. We should recognize this “another side of the same coin” from critical and practical viewpoints. Then we learn and analyze historical movement developed over the trans-Atlantic world especially in the second half of the 19th century.

「グローバル化」といった紋切型に頼らず、近代の世界がどのように人間を移動させてきたか冷静に見つめ直す姿勢を養う。

「移動」が「問題」になるのは「境界線」が存在するからである。このことを具体的に確認した上で19世紀後半の大西洋世界を中心に個別事例を採り上げ、考察を深める。
