備考/ NotesNotes |
This seminar seeks to equip students with the critical thinking, reading, and writing skills for their Senior Research and Thesis. Students will be taught the foundational elements of research (organization, methods, etc.), and will select and write on a topic of their choice.
This course is designed to empower students to be rhetorical critics. We will briefly discuss rhetorical studies, the history of rhetorical criticism, then delve into applications of rhetorical criticism as method. Students will be exposed to a variety of texts (ranging from public speeches to Tik Toks) and critical theories to evaluate rhetorical arguments. Although the course will engage concepts of transnational feminism as the collective entry point, students will be encouraged to pursue their own interests. By applying rhetorical criticism to a text of their choice, students will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to write their thesis (including topic selection, research, academic writing, presentation, and academic advising).
