Notes

【Course Objectives】

This seminar seeks to equip students with the critical thinking, reading, and writing skills for their Senior Research and Thesis. Students will be taught the foundational elements of research (organization, methods, etc.), and will select and write on a topic of their choice.

【Course Contents】

This course tackles the intersections of communication, gender, and culture within a global world. We will read and discuss critical approaches ranging from decolonial, feminist, queer, and rhetorical theories—based on student interest. Students are invited to engage content of their choice ranging from media (e.g. film, anime, social media, AI) to social movements (e.g. BLM, #MeToo). A collaborative process of discussions, presentations, and feedback will empower students to deepen their research agenda, nurture critical thinking skills, and develop their writing.
