Advanced Seminar I aims to support students in developing the fundamental research and writing skills necessary for successfully completing their graduation thesis in their respective academic interests. Another aim of this seminar is to help students explore, determine, and refine the research topic for their thesis regarding translation and interpreting in public services.
The theme of this seminar is “Translation and Interpreting in Public Services,” which aims to introduce and explore the profession of court interpreting, along with linguistic needs in other public services. In this seminar, reading materials about community interpreting, along with introductory books on translation and interpreting studies, will be used to help students identify research questions, methods, and techniques of existing research in the field. This seminar will also focus on identifying credible sources, accurate referencing, and conducting literature reviews.
