This seminar will provide in-depth knowledge of different types of art and art theories through exhibition visits and reading selected documents including specialized websites. Students will also acquire an array of knowledge and study methods of visual culture studies through textbook reading and actively participating in several case studies.
Students will learn through diverse outputs such as websites, art exhibitions, and written sources about various theories of art and artists. Writing and presentation skills in art will also be acquired through practice. Comparative approaches such as inter-regional, and international influences will be one of the important topics.

美術やアートを中心とする視覚的な表現について展覧会見学等を通じて多角的に触れ、並行して文献講読等やインターネット上のサイトの利用を通じて美術理論や研究方法に親しむ。また、視覚文化研究の方法について、テクスト講読や事例研究に主体的に関わることで、学際的に視覚文化について考察する方法を理解できるようになる。

近現代の日本や西洋における美術の理論と実際に活躍した芸術家たちについて、または、美術以外の多様な視覚文化の事例について、ウェブサイト、展覧会、文献などの複数の場やメディアと通じて多角的に理解する。トピックに適した問題提起の仕方、調査の仕方、レポートの書き方、プレゼンテーションの仕方などの方法論について実践を通じて学ぶ。

講読テキストは基本的に日本語を予定している。ガイダンス時に、履修者と相談してトピックを決定する予定である。コピー教材を配布するので、あらかじめ読んでおくこと。小プレゼンテーションは、それまでの演習の内容を踏まえたテーマを設定し、準備すること。
