The purpose of this course is to learn how to use the theories and concepts introduced in various courses to carry out an academic research project and come up with a suitable topic for the senior thesis.
Lectures in the first half of the semester will mainly equip students with the basic knowledge needed to write a senior thesis. In the middle of the semester, students will make a presentation on a topic of their choice and discuss the potential challenges to carry out the necessary tasks. Research topics will be refined through rounds of discussions, readings, and site visits scheduled during the semester. At the end of the semester, each student will present an overview of their project and receive feedback from the other members. Students will also submit a final report regarding their project, including the research design and execution plans.

学部におけるこれまでの学びやその過程で自分が抱いた問題意識を、学術研究としてまとめあげるために必要な考え方と方法を身につけ、卒業研究のテーマを決定する。

前半は主に、卒業研究を実施するうえで必要となる基礎的な知識を身につけるための講義を行う。中間発表では、学生が興味を持ったテーマを発表し、卒業研究として取り組むうえでの課題や、必要な作業について議論する。実際に書かれた論文の分析やディスカッション、現場見学などを通じて構想を具体化し、学期終盤にはそれぞれの学生が卒業研究の概要を発表してフィードバックを受ける。学期末に卒業研究のテーマと実施方法についての最終レポートを提出する。
