The goal of this seminar is for students to determine themes for Senior Research and Thesis by connecting their interests with academic themes. The classes are conducted to help students master the fundamental elements (research methods and the like) required to make that determination.
Through reading assignments, lectures, and group discussions, students will deepen understanding about various aspects of second language acquisition (e.g., acquisition of vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills) and reflect on how they can apply research to their own teaching and learning. Students will also learn to (a) critically evaluate previous literature, (b) formulate research questions, (c) collect data, and (d) publish findings in the form of academic papers.

各自の問題意識を学術的なテーマと結びつけることで「卒業研究」のテーマを設定することを目標とし、そのために必要な基礎的な事項（研究方法など）を身につけるための授業を行う。

第二言語習得の様々な側面（語彙・文法・発音・リスニング・リーディング・スピーキング・ライティング能力の習得など）について理解を深め、それらを英語教育および英語学習に生かす方法について考察する。授業は受講生による発表やクラス全体でのディスカッションを中心に進める。また、卒業研究の作成を念頭に、先行研究を批判的に考察した上で研究テーマを設定し、データを集め、研究成果を論文として発表する能力を養う。
