【Course Objectives】

The goal of this seminar is for students to determine themes for Senior Research and Thesis by connecting their awareness of various issues to academic themes. Classes are conducted to help students understand the fundamental elements (research questions, methods, etc.) in conducting research.

【Course Contents】

The first half of this seminar discusses an overview of Translation and Interpreting Studies, including its origins and evolution, main concepts, theories, topics, and methods. It also introduces how to use database and search for information to help students determine topics and methods for Senior Research and Thesis. In the second half, students work on mini research projects, give presentations in class and submit final reports. Students are required to participate in field trips to observe interpreting and translation in action at an international film festival and in a courtroom.
