【Course Objectives】

This course aims to help students determine themes for their senior research and thesis by connecting their awareness and knowledge of various issues to academic themes. Thus, the classroom sessions are designed to help students master the fundamental elements (research methods, etc.) required to make that determination.

【Course Contents】

This course aims to examine possible themes for senior research and thesis. Students will become conversant with research methods and with the general framework of scholarly research on language, culture, and communication, and the academic literature of relevant specific fields. Subsequently, students will be required to execute a pilot research project, present their findings in class, and submit a final report. (The course schedule may be modified to adjust to the progress and interests of students.)
