【Course Objectives】

Advanced Seminar 3 is a continuation of Advanced Seminar 1 & 2 and will dive deeper into the Results and Discussion sections of your thesis. This last part of the thesis journey brings together three semesters of work to produce the final thesis. The objective is to revise and improve the first and second parts of the thesis as well as to analysis, together, the results from the field survey. A finished comprehensive thesis is the ultimate outcome of this seminar.

【Course Contents】

This third of the three semesters will have more individual consultations as the student shapes the last parts of their thesis. In addition to the seminar meeting regularly, the course content will include individual reading assignments and discussion sessions with the instructor.

1 Course re-introduction
Welcome students to Advanced Seminar 3. Discuss this semester's course outline and deliverables.
2 Discussion: Data cleaning and analysis
Students talk about their data collection processes in class. The instructor reminds students of techniques of data cleaning and analysis.
3 Discussion: Writing the results section
Students talk about their preliminary results in class. The instructor reminds students of techniques for writing the results section in a thesis.
4 Individual Consultations & Writing sessions: 1
Students are given extra time for analyzing and writing their thesis. Individual consultations are also carried out.
5 Individual Consultations & Writing sessions: 2
Students are given extra time for analyzing and writing their thesis. Individual consultations are also carried out.
6 Discussion: Writing the Conclusion & policy recommendations section
Students talk about their preliminary conclusions in class. The instructor reminds students of techniques for writing the conclusions and policy recommendations sections in a thesis.
7 Individual Consultations & Writing sessions: 3
Students are given extra time for analyzing and writing their thesis. Individual consultations are also carried out.
8 Individual Consultations & Writing sessions: 4
Students are given extra time for analyzing and writing their thesis. Individual consultations are also carried out.
9 Mid-term: Presentation of Preliminary Results and discussion

11 Peer review sessions
Students comment on their peers' work and provide suggestions for improvement.
12 Individual Consultations & Writing sessions: 6
Students are given extra time for analyzing and writing their thesis. Individual consultations are also carried out.
13 Presentation of Final Thesis
14 Writing sessions and preparation for submission of final thesis.

Students are required to study the assigned reading materials to prepare for the next class. Additionally, students must conduct their own research using their own resources, particularly for their literature reviews, which should be specific to their topic or area of interest.
