The objectives of this course are to help students gain an understanding of a number of the areas of corporate law practice, as well as major issues that have arisen in those practice areas, and then to give students the opportunity to share their opinions about issues relating to corporate law in written and spoken English.
I will provide an overview of a corporate law practice area and highlight an issue that has arisen in that practice area. I will give students a question or questions about the issue discussed in class to consider and students may be asked to write a short reflection paper. In the following class, I will ask students to actively share their opinions about the issue.

Reflections: From the second week, students may be asked to write a reflection or answer questions regarding a topic covered in class. Homework is due at least 24 hours prior to the seminar. As long as a student has followed instructions and completed the assignment in full on time in good faith, full credit will be given. If the homework is received less than 24 hours before the seminar but by the time the seminar begins, 75% credit will be given. Homework received after the seminar but within the day of the seminar will receive 50% credit. Homework received later than the day of the seminar but prior to the end of the semester will receive 25% credit. All homework must be received in order to receive credit for this seminar. Participation: This seminar is a chance for you to practice your English, so you will need to actively participate every class. Each student should speak multiple times during each seminar, but at a minimum four times. 0 participation points will be given for unexcused absences. The final test will be an oral test. The final test will cover information we have discussed during the semester. The grade for the final test will be based on how well students know, and are able to communicate and apply, the material learned in class. |
