The goal of this course is to provide an overview of Chinese law, which has become a world power on par with the United States, and to understand China from a legal perspective. By contrasting Chinese law with Taiwanese law, which is the law of another Chinese society, the course aims to deepen students' understanding of modern Western law by exposing them to Chinese law, which is significantly different from Western law.
Basically, the course aims to add a supplementary explanation using PowerPoint along with the textbook. However, the explanation is easier to understand if students read the textbook's relevant section in advance. The course aims not only to outline the system but also its political and social backgrounds, and it encourages attempts to understand the law from multiple angles.

アメリカと並ぶ世界の大国となった中国の法について概観し、法的側面から中国を理解することを目標とする。もうひとつの華人社会の法である台湾法との対比から中国法を相対化し、西欧法とは著しく異なる法に触れることで、西欧近代法に対する理解を深めさせたい。

基本的には教科書に沿ってパワーポイントによる補充説明を加えながら進める。事前に教科書の該当箇所、参考文献を読んでくるとより理解しやすいであろう。授業では単に制度の外形だけでなく、その政治的、社会的背景にも言及し、法を多角的に捉えるように心がける。
