By understanding the overall structure of criminology, students will develop the ability to independently analyze and examine the meaning of criminal phenomena occurring in society and the appropriate ways to respond to them.
This lecture will cover the overall structure of criminology. We will first confirm the significance of criminology before explaining theories of crime causation. Subsequently, we will introduce recent trends in criminal legislation and the application of criminal law, then examine theories of punishment (capital punishment, custodial sentences, and property penalties) in detail. Furthermore, we will examine security measures, criminal justice functions, treatment (institutional and community-based), victimology, and crime prevention theory, concluding the general overview of criminology. The remaining sessions will cover topics from the specific areas of criminology.

刑法及び刑事訴訟法の基本的知識を必要とする。
刑事学の全体構造を理解することにより、社会に生起する犯罪現象の意味や犯罪現象への対応のあり方を自ら分析し考察する力を身に付ける。
By understanding the overall structure of criminology, students will develop the ability to independently analyze and examine the meaning of criminal phenomena occurring in society and the appropriate ways to respond to them.
本講義では、刑事学の全体構造を学ぶことになる。まず刑事学の意義を確認した上で、犯罪原因論を解説する。その後、近時の刑事立法の動向・刑事法運用の動向を紹介し、刑罰論（死刑・自由刑・財産刑）を詳しく見ていくことにしたい。さらに、保安処分論・刑事司法作用論・処遇論（施設内処遇・社会内処遇）・被害者論・犯罪予防論をそれぞれ検討し、総論部分の解説を終えたい。残りの回には、各論部分のトピックを採り上げることにする。
