The objective of this course is to be able to explain the current state of Japanese law from a historical perspective by understanding the process to establish modern Japanese law from the aspect of the reception of the Western law.
The lectures cover the process to establish modern Japanese law (particularly Constitutional Law, Civil Law, and Criminal Law), the legal thoughts, and the relationship between law and politics.
