I am an editorial writer for the Asahi Shimbun, writing articles that examine the current state of Japanese politics, diplomacy, and security, as well as re-evaluating postwar history based on newly discovered documents. I imagine many of you often feel perplexed by the gap between the foundational knowledge you've learned and the realities of today. Drawing on my experience writing articles that bridge this gap, I will lecture, incorporating my reporting experiences and explanations of current affairs. My goal is to deepen your understanding of the realities of Japanese politics and its extension into foreign affairs and security, cultivating the skills you'll need to engage with these issues as working professionals.
First, I will provide an overview of postwar Japanese politics, focusing primarily on the period from the early 1990s when I became a newspaper reporter up to the present. Then, I will deepen your understanding of major events concerning postwar Japan's foreign policy and security, including by reading historical documents.

私は朝日新聞編集委員で、日本の政治や外交・安全保障のいまや、新たに見つかった文書をもとに戦後史を見つめ直す記事を書いています。皆さんは、これまでに学んだ基礎知識と現実のギャップに戸惑うことが多いと思います。そのギャップを埋めるような記事を書いてきた私が、取材の体験や時事問題の解説を交えて講義します。日本の政治と、内政の延長である外交・安全保障のリアルについて皆さんの理解が深まり、社会人として関わっていく素養が培われることを目指します。
