The objective of this course is to understand the academic approaches of comparative politics with focuses on the diverse paths of political development in large and small states in Europe, as well as the contemporary challenges of the European integration beyond the nation states.
Europe has experienced dynamic political development through nation-state building, democratization, and the establishment of welfare states, and is currently facing challenges such as the deepening and enlargement of the European Union, increasing immigrants and refugees, populism, and the emergence of new political movements. This course will explain the theories of comparative politics and a variety of themes and cases to understand the establishment of diverse democracies and the constant changes in European politics.

比較政治のアプローチを学びながら，ヨーロッパの大国・中小国の政治の個性的な発展，および国民国家を超えるＥＵ統合の挑戦を理解し考察する。
The objective of this course is to understand the academic approaches of comparative politics with focuses on the diverse paths of political development in large and small states in Europe, as well as the contemporary challenges of the European integration beyond the nation states.
ヨーロッパは，国民国家建設・民主化・福祉国家化などを通したダイナミックな政治発展を経験し，現在はＥＵの深化・拡大，移民・難民の増加，ポピュリズム，新しい政治のような諸課題に直面している。この授業では比較政治の理論を紹介しつつ，多様な個性をもつデモクラシーの確立から今日にいたるヨーロッパ政治のたえざる変化を，多様なテーマと事例を通じて解説していく。
