Juvenile law is a special law which treats juveniles differently because of minors. The purpose of this class is to understand the principle of juvenile justice and procedure. I will focus on the differences between adult criminal justice and juvenile justice and the reason of juvenile law reforms.
In this class you will learn the following topics on juvenile law : the principle of juvenile law, the juvenile law statutes, juvenile law procedure, juvenile hearing and disposition in Family Court.Additionally. you will learn about resent trend of juvenile delinquency and child and law.

少年法は、少年であることを理由とした特別扱いを規定している法律である。その法律がどのような内容なのか、少年の手続と成人の手続はどのように異なるのか、少年法の改正はなぜ、どのような形で行われてきたのかなど、少年法の理念、手続について理解することを目的とする。

この授業では、２０歳未満の非行少年に対する特別な手続を規定している少年法について、その理念、内容、少年事件の手続の流れ、家庭裁判所における少年に対する審判、処分について学ぶ。加えて、少年非行の動向やこどもと法についても学ぶ。
