In the 21st century, democracies are facing a range of new challenges, including the pandemic, climate change, technological threats, the global economy and inequality, the unrest of liberal democracy, and the 'fragmentation' of society. The seminar aims to introduce students to the fundamental concepts and debates in international politics by reading literature that outlines these issues.
Through active participation in the course, students will have the opportunity to enhance their academic skills, such as presentation, debate, and report writing.
In this seminar, we will read introductory literature on international politics and democracy, followed by a discussion of each topic. The presenters will provide a summary of the texts. Furthermore, it is requested that other students submit a comment paper in advance. In order to facilitate further discussion, if necessary, students may be divided into smaller groups.

パンデミック、気候変動、テクノロジーの脅威、グローバル経済と格差、リベラル・デモクラシーの動揺、社会の「分断」など、現在、私たちは21世紀の様々な諸課題に直面している。
本演習は、これらの問題を素描する文献を読み解き、国際政治学における基本的な概念や議論について学ぶことを目的とする。
また、授業への参加を通じて、テキスト要約の報告、論点の提出および討論、レポート執筆に関する学術的な基礎能力を身につけることも目標とする。

本演習では、国際政治に関わる入門的な文献を輪読しながら、各テーマについて討論する。報告担当者はテキストの内容報告を行い、それ以外の受講生は事前にコメント・ペーパー（400字程度）を提出する。各回とも、討論者の問題提起をふまえた全体討論を行う形で授業を進めて行く。 必要に応じて、小グループに分かれて討論することもある。
