In this seminar, students will acquire a basic understanding of British politics and culture since 1945. The students will also select some fields of interest from the related themes, conduct research, give presentations, and discuss them.
The students will read basic introductory texts on various topics related to contemporary British politics and culture. Through these readings, students will also choose an issue of interest to them and conduct more in-depth research on it. While it is up to students to choose their own topics, the following subjects will be primarily addressed in this seminar: welfare state, youth culture, classes, labour movements, de-industrialization, neo-liberalism, immigration and refugees, Brexit and referendum, law and order, protests, council estates, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, music, and food.

・春学期基礎文献講読で学習した、文献の精読、要約の作成・発表、資料の調査（図書館の利用法、データベースの使い方等）が身についていること。
・上記、「授業時間外の学修」の水準を満たせること。
・授業で講読する文献はすべて日本語のものとし、履修にあたって英語の能力は問わない。ただし、授業内容の性質上、英語のニュース記事や映像資料などを紹介することもあるので、それらを積極的に理解しようとする姿勢が求められる。
ラップトップ、タブレット端末など、授業中にインターネットと接続可能な機器（知らないことはその場で調べることができる状態にすること）。
1945年以降のイギリス政治・文化について基礎的な知識を習得し、関連するテーマの中から受講者自身が関心をもった事柄をより深く調べ、報告し、議論する。
In this seminar, students will acquire a basic understanding of British politics and culture since 1945. The students will also select some fields of interest from the related themes, conduct research, give presentations, and discuss them.
本演習では現代イギリスの政治・文化に関する様々な論点について概説的な文献を講読する。文献講読を通して、受講者は自ら関心のあるテーマを選択し、それについてより深く研究する。どのようなテーマを選択するかは授業内容を参考に受講者が自由に決めることができる。授業内容としては以下のようなものが予定されている。福祉国家、若者文化、階級、労働運動、脱工業化、ネオリベラリズム、移民・難民、EU離脱と国民投票、法と秩序、抗議運動、ウェールズ、スコットランド、北アイルランド、公営住宅、音楽、食事。
