備考/ NotesNotes |
Our main objectives are (i) to explore the connections between law, corporate sustainability, and corporate socio-political engagement/participation and (ii) to become comfortable and confident using English legal terminology to share our views on various legal, business, and socio-political topics.
This is a seminar course in which we will create an active and exciting -- yet comfortable and respectful -- environment for learning. Through enjoyable interactive discussions as a whole class, in small groups, and with a partner depending on the session/topic, we will discover how the field of law connects with today's pressing and hotly-debated business, sustainability, and socio-political issues.
In principle, at least two seminar sessions will be devoted to a specific theme: for example, Corporate Social and Political Activism, AI Ethics, Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG), The Law and the SDGs, Constitutional Law Issues, and The Law and Human Rights/Relationships. Students will be expected to read two to four English items (e.g., news articles) and/or watch short English videos in preparation for each session. Our classes will begin with lectures involving back-and-forth discussions in a Socratic style before shifting to further debates in small groups or pairs.
