【Course Objectives】

The objective of this course is to present Japanese law as seen by Japanese and international scholars.

【Course Contents】

This course will present some areas of the Japanese legal system from a historical and comparative perspective. The focus will be on constitutional law, private law and family law.

【履修にあたって求められる能力 / Abilities Required to Take the Course】

Ability to listen to a class in English and engage in simple conversations in English about the topics presented.
Basic knowledge of Japanese history, in particular since 1868.
A suitable English language proficiency level is a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
