increasing media literacy for political news
The way we consume news has changed dramatically in the past 20 years, with SNS taking over from newspapers and television. While access has become easier, problems of fake news and news fatigue have arisen. This tendency is particularly evident in political reporting. Despite this, political articles in newspapers remain a reliable news source, but the younger generation does not have much of a habit of reading newspapers, and they may not even have a clue how to read political articles in the first place. In this class, a veteran journalist who has been covering domestic and international politics as a newspaper reporter for over 30 years will teach you the tricks of reading political articles and practice comparative reading of various newspapers. Under the guidance of the instructor, students will compare and read articles on topics of interest and make a presentation. At the end, students will be asked to submit a report based on their presentation.

この20年でニュースへの接し方が劇的に変化し、新聞やテレビに代わってSNSが主流になりました。アクセスがしやすくなった半面、フェイクニュースやニュース疲れの問題が起きています。政治報道で特にその傾向が顕著です。そういう中でも、新聞の政治記事は依然として信頼性の高いニュースソースであり続けているのですが、若い世代は新聞を読む習慣があまりなく、そもそもどのように政治記事を読めばいいのか、手掛かりすらないのではありませんか。この授業では、新聞記者として30年以上にわたって国内外の政治を担当してきたベテランのジャーナリストが、政治記事の読み方のコツを教え、新聞各紙の比べ読みを実践します。受講者は、講師の指導のもと、興味のあるテーマについて記事を比べ読みし、発表を行います。最後に、その発表を踏まえたレポートの提出を求めます。
