This course aims to give students ability to construct arguments in international trade dispute, based on deep understanding of international economic law through study of original WTO dispute settlement panels and Appellate Body reports in English.
In the Spring Semester, we will read certain WTO dispute settlement panel and Appellate Body reports （hereinafter "WTO DS reports") to understand legal terms and basic principles of WTO Agreements. Students are also expected to improve reading speed. At the end, students will have debate session(s) to battle legal arguments, taking recent international trade measures by WTO Member(s).
In the Fall Semester, students are excepted to further deepen their understanding on the international economic rules. For this purpose, students are assigned certain issues in one or two WTO DS reports to make presentation on arguments by complaining and responding parties, evaluation by the panel/Appellate Body, and the student's own comments to arguments and evaluation. Other students are expected to participate actively in the discussion, by presenting their questions and comments.

WTO紛争解決機関のパネル・上級委員会報告書の原文を講読・研究することにより、国際経済ルールの理解を深め、国際貿易紛争における議論の構築手法を身に着ける。
This course aims to give students ability to construct arguments in international trade dispute, based on deep understanding of international economic law through study of original WTO dispute settlement panels and Appellate Body reports in English.
春学期は、WTO紛争解決パネル・上級委員会報告書（以下「WTO DS報告書」）の原文を講読する。これにより法律英語及びWTO協定の基本的原則の理解を深めるとともに、原文の読書速度を速め、秋学期の事例研究に備える。また、最近の事件を踏まえて国際経済ルールの違反行為に対してどのような議論が構築できるか議論する。
秋学期は、各自に割り当てられた報告書中の争点について、申立国及び被申立国の主張、パネル・上級委員会の検討及び判断、さらに発表者自身の解説のプレゼンテーションを行い、それを踏まえて議論を行う。これらプレゼンテーションと議論を通して、国際経済ルールの理解を深める。
