【授業の目標 / Course Objectives】

アジアの政治動向を、様々な文献の読解により理解すること。また、その知識を踏まえて、他の受講生とも協力しながら研究報告を行い、自身の見解を発表したり、他の受講生と議論したりすることができるようになること。

To understand the political trends in Asia through reading a range of literature. Based on this knowledge, they should also be able to work with other students to present research reports, present their own views and discuss them with other students.

【授業の内容 / Course Contents】

東アジアの政治状況は現在、「新冷戦」とも形容されるような緊張が生じています。日本も、中国・北朝鮮・ロシアといった国々との間で様々な問題を抱えています。他方、その状況下でも、特に日中間では緊密な経済関係が築かれています。また、韓国は日本・米国・中国のいずれとも良い関係を築こうとしています。東南アジア諸国には、米国か中国かという選択を嫌い、双方と一定の関係をとりつつ、距離も置こうとする国が多くあります。このゼミでは、現状のアジアは「新冷戦」と称するのがふさわしい状況なのか、考えます。
ゼミ全体でアジアの政治についての理解を共有した上で、グループに分かれて事例研究を行います。希望者には演習論文を執筆してもらい，その内容についてもゼミで議論して行きます。
なお、本ゼミでは主に当日の授業終了後の時間を利用して、懇親会や他のゼミとの交流などの企画を行うことも計画していますので、無理のない範囲で、6限の時間も他の授業や私用をできるだけ入れないようにして頂けるようお願いします。また、希望があれば国内外でのゼミ合宿や他ゼミとの交流なども行いますので、正規の開講時間以外の各種行事にも、積極的に参加することを受講者の皆さんにお願いします。

The political situation in East Asia is currently marked by tensions that have been described as a “new Cold War”. Japan, too, faces various issues with countries such as China, North Korea, and Russia. On the other hand, even within this context, particularly between Japan and China, close economic ties have been established. Furthermore, South Korea seeks to build good relations with Japan, the United States, and China alike. Many Southeast Asian nations dislike being forced to choose between the United States and China, instead seeking to maintain relations with both while keeping their distance. This seminar will consider whether the current situation in Asia truly warrants being labelled a ‘new Cold War’.
After sharing an understanding of Asian politics with the seminar as a whole, students will be divided into groups to conduct case studies. Those who wish to do so will be asked to write a seminar paper, the contents of which will also be discussed in the seminar.
The seminar also plans to organize social gatherings and exchanges with other seminars, mainly using the time after classes on the day of the seminar. If you wish, we will also organize seminar camps and exchanges with other seminars in Japan and abroad, so we ask all students to actively participate in various events outside of regular class hours.

【授業時間外（予習・復習等）の学修 / Study Required Outside of Class】

常にアジアに関する報道をチェックしておくこと。また、予告された教材の熟読や、それに関連する課題などの予習、プレゼンテーションの資料作成などが求められる（各回3時間）。終了後は議論を踏まえてさらなる文献収集を行い、演習論文の執筆などを行う（各回2時間）。
