The objectives of this seminar are to deepen the students’ understanding of Civil Law and to enjoy legal thought through discussions and debates about fundamental knowledge and problems pertaining to cases using Civil Law judicial precedents as source material.
The classes will focus on an examination and discussion of judicial precedents based on Civil Law judicial precedents selected and reported on by the seminar students.
Fundamentally, each seminar student will present a report on an individually selected Civil Law judicial precedent one or more times during the spring semester and the fall semester. In addition, a debate will be held during the beginning of the fall semester based on a Civil Law judicial precedent.
Because discussion will be the focus of the class, students are expected to participate by boldly and actively speaking up based on the idea that "there are no mistakes in legal interpretive theory."

演習論文：実施しない
民法判例を素材として、事案に関連する基礎知識や問題点についての議論やディベートをすることで、民法の理解を深めることを通して法律的な思考を楽しむ。

ゼミ員が選択して報告する民法判例に基づいた事案や基礎知識の検討と議論とが、授業の中心となる。
ゼミ員は、基本的に単独で春学期と秋学期に各１回以上、各自が選択した民法判例の報告を行う。また、秋学期初めには、民法判例を素材としたディベートを行う。
議論が授業の中心であるため、「法律解釈論に誤りはない」との考えで、臆せずに積極的に発言をする学生の参加を期待する。出席・発言・判例報告（ディベート参加）で、単位修得となる。
