【Course Objectives】

The focus of this course is to gain an understanding of international human rights and explore some of the current issues surrounding them. Human rights have been referred to as "the last utopia" and may be seen as humankind's final dream of a universal system. While we may be passionate about this dream and hold high hopes for it, human rights can also be frustrating and may not always meet our expectations. Despite being grounded in law, international human rights laws are complex and require a constant effort to exist as law.

The main objective of this course is to understand the international structure of the human rights system and analyze different issues from a human rights perspective.

The objectives of this course are to help students:
1) have a basic understanding of law and peace from an interdisciplinary view
2) develop skills to critically analyze key social and legal issues
3) think about peace, law, and justice from Japanese and global perspectives

There are no specific requirements to enroll in this course, and students of any background are welcome to join.
