The objective of this seminar is to think about contemporary society and politics by reading literatures in English about Australian politics.
At the May 2022 Federal elections, the Australian Labor Party, led by Anthony Albanese, returned to power for the first time since September 2013. In a meanwhile, group of articulate professional women, who have had enough in the previous conservative government's inaction on climate change and integrity issues, successfully obtained seats previously held safely by the Liberal Party and appeared to cause the realignment of Australia's party system. The new government has embarked on dynamic foreign policy. The government also attempted but failed to amend the Constitution so that the First Nations peoples' Voice can be reflected to legislation. This year, we are going to read and discuss the materials on these remarkable developments.

オーストラリア政治に関する英語文献の講読を通じ，現代社会・政治について考える。
The objective of this seminar is to think about contemporary society and politics by reading literatures in English about Australian politics.
2022年5月の連邦総選挙において、アンソニー・アルバニージー率いるオーストラリア労働党が8年9か月振りに政権に復帰した。この選挙では、政府の気候変動政策や政治倫理の欠如に業を煮やしたプロフェッショナルな職業に就く女性たちが、無所属候補として当選を果たし、オーストラリアの政党制度を根本から変えようとしている。新政権は、外交面で積極的な動きを見せると同時に、先住民族を憲法の中に位置づけるため憲法改正にも着手したが、2023年10月の国民投票は失敗に終わった。この演習では、そう言った動きに関する英語文献を読み、ともに考えていきたい。
